Brake Sound ur quickly
Brake Sound ur quickly
Hey When I am Braking in my 54 quickly, there is a clack sound at first when using the pedals, it is only one clack and the brakes work normally! What could this sound do? New springs and new brakes installed in the rear wheel? Could it be the little round thing in the brake plate that goes into the frame that has too much play because of wear on the rear end?
Hope it makes sense, will send a picture of the little round thing I'm talking about

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
No not in the gearbox here, the sound is definitely from the rear wheel, anyone else who have had problems with the pin on the brake plate that goes into the frame?
Think the Brake plate maybe has too much Play in the frame and therefore twist a little when applying the Brake!
know it is not from my transmission Axle on the pedals since I made the engine myself and did everything according to the manual
Hope for some answers from other with the same problem!

Hello Lars,
I have the Same Klack Sound and i am surching since a couple of day for the reason. Sorry for my english! Tomorrow i will try to minimaize the gab between the pin and the Frame. I think this is a good idea. I will let you now the result.

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
Sounds good, maybe it could also be the nut that holds the brake plate that need to be tightened and the axel nut also, I will try that!
How are you planning to minimize the gap?

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
Just to find the source of Noise i will fix temporär a shrinksleeve. Also i will disconnect the rod from gearbox to the brake. Then i can be shure the Noise is comming von gearbox or rear weel. It will take time, i am a old man.
Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
sounds good, looking forward to hear what it was? I think my sound came from a loose nut on the braking plate hopefully it is fixed after I tightened it.
Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
Hi Lars,
Today i removed the rear wheel and i put a heatshrinking sleev on the 10mm pin, which is holding the brake in the frame.
After this there is no „Klack“ sound anymore. It means, my problem is solved. hope it will solve your‘s too. Good luck.

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
So the problem was the pin in frame?
Did you Also tigten the nut that holds the Brake plate? My problem was gone after I tigtened the nut on the Brake plate

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
The nut at my brackeplate was already tight. In my case the gap between pin and hole in the frame was the reason for the Noise. Have a nice weekend.
Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
thank you for the input. I will report back once I have taken a look on my own and found out what the problem is caused by

Re: Brake Sound ur quickly
